Dr. Joshua Rooks, Ph.D., of Thriving Center of Psychology, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist that received his doctoral training from the University of Miami (UM) and postdoctoral specialization in neuropsychology at UM, Miller School of Medicine. As a therapist, he draws from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), in the treatment of a variety of emotional, health/medical, family/relational, and occupation-related concerns. His approach to treatment is grounded in authenticity, collaboration, and the creation of a safe and welcoming space from which to assist each client in reaching their individual goals.

Dr. Rooks is also a published researcher on the benefits of mindfulness practices among those enduring prolonged periods of high demand and stress, and he has received advanced training as a mindfulness instructor. Inspired by his background as a former Division I football player, he is additionally passionate about integrating his clinical and research experiences in helping others optimize their performance in both their personal and professional lives.
