Marcelle Santiago-Serrano, Psy.D.
Dr. Marcelle Santiago-Serrano of Thriving Center of Psychology is a licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY 35S100609200) in New Jersey who has developed her career as a licensed Clinical and Forensic Psychologist. She has over two decades of experience conducting psycho diagnostic and psychological assessments, as well as therapeutic interventions for individuals and families in private practice, community mental health and correctional institutions in the States of New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Dr. Serrano’s focus is to incorporate these collective experiences to help clients through times of adjustment and/or distress.
Dr. Serrano draws from a variety of therapeutic ideologies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Existentialism, Humanistic and Person-Centered Approaches, as well as a Developmental Approach to understanding personality development.
Dr. Serrano believes that cultural background plays a crucial role in human psychological development and it is fundamental in the therapy process to understand an individual’s background, as well as their reality. Dr. Serrano empowers individuals to achieve their emotional goals through generalizing communication skills they have learned in the therapeutic relationship to their intra and interpersonal daily functioning.
Dr. Serrano received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Temple University, as well as a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Serrano has also received specialized training in Forensic Psychology during post-doctorate training and has spent the last 17 years of her career.
